TALL SHIP "EMPIRE SANDY" At
200 feet overall and 11,000 square feet of sail, Canada's largest sailing
ship the "Empire Sandy" majestically cruises Toronto Harbour and Lake
Ontario, offering passengers the unique experience of sailing aboard an
authentic Tall Ship. Sails
are hoisted every cruise as the wind is harnessed to propel the 740 ton
"Empire
Sandy" along Toronto's scenic waterfront.
Wide expansive decks and spacious wood interior set the tone for an
elegant yet exhilarating experience.
Nothing can compare to this experience of dining and dancing under
a canopy of stars and billowing canvas. Suggestions
for making your cruise more enjoyable Getting
to the ship while avoiding the traffic and parking problems, passengers
are advised to use public transportation to and from the ship's berth.
When going to the ship, board the #509 TTC street car at Union
Station en-route to Spadina Avenue. This
short (5-minute) ride will take you along the Queens Quay West to the stop
at Spadina Avenue, directly in front of the ship's pier. The
street car that departs Union Station no later than 1820 is the one to
take. If you miss it, taking
a taxi or the 15-minute walk along Queens Quay West is the next best thing
to do. Underground
parking is available at 539 Queens Quay West and in other nearby lots. If
you drink - don't drive until it's safe to do so! After
the cruise, the #509 street car is again the best means to get you back to
Union Station for connections to other modes of transportation or to where
your car is parked. The
street car stops at the intersection of Spadina and Queens Quay West,
en-route to Union Station about every 15 minutes. If
you miss the ship by a matter of minutes and while it is still in the
harbour, a water -taxi is available by telephoning 416-203-taxi
to take you to the ship (boarding
from the water-taxi by means of a rope ladder will be necessary).
See the back side of your Ticket for further directions.
